Helping tourism businesses make sustainability work

Green Tourism helps tourism and hospitality businesses turn sustainability into practical action, useful evidence and credible progress. Backed by 30 years of sector experience, we combine expert support, digital tools and independent certification in ways that fit the reality of running a business.

We work with independent businesses, groups and destinations. Each gets a clear, relevant way to understand what matters, organise the work and show what is changing.

Sustainability that works in practice

Tourism businesses have guests to serve, teams to manage and tight margins to protect. Advice only helps when it can be used in day-to-day operations. Our frameworks and resources are designed specifically for tourism and hospitality. They help you:

  • focus on the sustainability priorities most relevant to your operation
  • turn policies and commitments into action your team can carry out
  • record useful data and evidence without unnecessary administration
  • communicate progress clearly to guests, clients, partners and procurement teams

Start with the work already happening in your business. We help you see what is in place, identify the gaps and decide what deserves attention next.

Credibility that stands up to scrutiny

Good intentions are a starting point. Credibility depends on evidence.

Green Tourism Certified assesses progress against robust criteria aligned with ESG principles. Green Tourism provides the framework, resources and specialist support; certification audit is carried out independently by Green Business UK Ltd.

Green Tourism is also recognised on Travalyst’s list of sustainability certification schemes. This helps certified accommodation providers meet the requirements used by sustainability filters on online travel agencies such as Booking.com.

Experience that keeps moving

Green Tourism was established to make sustainability achievable for tourism businesses. Three decades later, we have worked with independent operators, international groups and destination organisations in the UK and worldwide.

That experience shows us where plans tend to stall: limited time, changing teams, competing priorities and uncertainty about what counts as credible evidence. It also helps us design support that people can actually use.

We continue to update our standards, digital tools and services as evidence, legislation and commercial requirements change. Thirty years gives us a strong foundation, but our focus is firmly on what businesses need next.

Support from people who understand tourism

Our team brings decades of sustainable tourism experience and specialist knowledge across environmental, social and governance issues. We make complex requirements easier to understand and help turn broad goals into work your team can manage.

Support and assessment remain separate, so you can receive practical guidance without compromising the independence of certification.
